Kengo: Legend of the 9 is Majesco's first Xbox 360 title and its a great start. Kengo is filled with samurai lore as you play through the stories of nine specific samurai from Japanese history. Each character has his or her own strengths and weaknesses along with their own story. But as you play through the game, you will realize that their tales aren't all that independent. Each story has eight bosses, those bosses are one of the other samurai.

One of the more interesting aspects of this game's story is when two of the playable samurai converge. In each character's story, those overlapping aspects match up, thus giving you an idea of just how interwoven each story is and you get to see the same events from multiple perspectives, always an interesting storytelling device.

Like I said above, these nine samurai are based off of historical characters; you can play as Musashi Miyamoto, Jubei Yagyu, Sanako Chiba, Ittosai Ito, Izo Okada, Soji Okita, Kojiro Sasaki, Ryoma Sakamoto or Yasubi Horibe. Even the events in the game are based (well loosely, anyway) on actual fights like the raid of the Kira mansion and the battle at Ganryujima.

Characters will have several fighting stances and a few basic attacks with each stance. As you progress through the story, it will become evident that you will have to switch your stances and styles frequently in order to combat the ever-changing threat. The game also supports a pretty well detailed skill system that adds a nice RPG element to it.

Look for Kengo: Legend of the 9 this September with an ESRB rating of M.
